Human exploitation of the oceanic environment has lead to devastating and lasting consequences. Over fishing, shark fining, ocean acidification, wastewater and plastic dumping, and much more is causing irreversible damage to much of the oceans ecosystems. About Us
We are a group of like minded, marine biologists, oceanographers, and most importantly ocean lovers who are striving to protect the ocean and its creatures before they become nothing more than characters in a fairy tail. Coming from many diffrent walks of life the Unicorn Shark team aims to use their knowledge, skills, and love for the ocean to create sustainable and novel methods to remove debris, expand knowledge, develop education, and promote conservation.
Our Projects
We are currently working on the logistics of our inaugural project! A ghost gear recovery project that aims to remove deadly “ghost” fishing gear from the oceans while also attempting to further our understanding, data, and safety practices in the process. Started by 4 marine biologist during their studies at Dalhousie University, the Unicorn Shark team prides ourselves on our ongoing commitment to putting the health and welfare of the oceans, sea creatures, and the humans that interact with them above all else.
